Zoom Interview With Lexi Zeiss

I got the opporunity to do a zoom interview with Lexi! Here is a little recap


How old were you when you started gymnastics, and what originally drew you to the sport?


She was 18 months and he parents put her in the sport to get stronger for other sports.


What was your favorite meet, and what are your favorite and least favorite events?


Worlds Championships in Brazil and London. My favorite event was bars but I also like floor. She said that she does not have an least favorite event.



What is the hardest and easiest skill you ever trained?


She said that she was lucky to be able to just for skills but her hardest skills was a Jaeger release move on bars.


How did you deal with nerves, pressure, and getting in your head or temporarily "losing" a skill?


I handled nerves, pressure, and getting in my head by getting fris bumps to my teammates before I go up on an event.



What was your biggest accomplishment in the sport, and did you always want to do college gymnastics?


She said that her whole career in elite and college so far has both small and big accomplishment. Some included


Who was your gymnastics role model growing up?


Jordyn Wieber


What are two main goals you want to achieve in the sport of gymnastics?


  1. finish my gymnastics career strong 2. win a national championship


What was the biggest adjustment transitioning from training as an individual elite gymnast to competing for a team in college?


The biggest adjustment transitioning from training elite to college was the amount of hours that you get. While adjusting to the amount of numbers you take in college vs elite. Overall the adjustment from elite to college was hard.


What made you pick LSU?


I picked LSU because I know when I walked on campus during my visit that it felt like home.



How does the atmosphere and energy inside the PMAC on a Friday night in Baton Rouge feel like?


The atmosphere competing in the PMAC on a friday night feels amazing the peopel, the fans, the crowd, everything.


How do you balance schoolwork, travel, and training at such a high level?


I balance my schoolwork, travel, and training at such a high level by communicating with my teachers and making sure I have time for things outside of the the sport.


What is one piece of advice you’d give to young gymnasts who dream of following in your footsteps from club/elite to Division I college gymnastics?


An tip of advice she gave was to work hard in the gym and make time for thing outside of the sport. Since gymnastics is not your whole identity.
