UWW Gymnastics Meet Last Three Home Meets

For the past three weekends, I’ve had the opportunity to watch my favorite sport—gymnastics at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater (UWW). On January 31st, the team competed against Gustavus Adolphus College. The following weekend, February 7th, they faced Winona State University. Most recently, on February 14th, they competed against University of Wisconsin–Stout.
Since retiring from gymnastics in May of 2024, attending meets has been an amazing way for me to stay connected to the sport. Even though I’m no longer competing, being able to walk over to the William Center on campus and watch the team perform makes it feel like I’m still part of the gymnastics community. When I was choosing colleges, one of my main priorities was attending a school with a gymnastics team, so it’s really special that UWW offers that opportunity.
Because these were home meets, UWW followed the home rotation order: Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor. If the team were away, the order would be Bars, Vault, Floor, and Beam. It’s interesting how the rotation changes depending on whether you’re home or away.
If I had to choose my favorite event to watch now that I’m no longer competing, it would definitely be floor. While every event is exciting in its own way, college floor routines bring so much energy with the music, choreography, and team celebrations. It’s the perfect event to end on because the atmosphere in the gym is always electric.
Meet Highlights & Scores
Across the three meets, the team showed consistent and competitive scoring:
January 31st vs. Gustavus Adolphus
Vault: 9.525, 9.575, 9.65, 9.775
Bars: 9.750, 9.625, 9.675
Beam: 9.7, 9.575, 9.55, 9.425
Floor: 9.625, 9.6, 9.575, 9.55
February 7th vs. Winona State
Vault: 9.65, 9.6, 9.575, 9.55, 9.5
Bars: 9.6, 9.55, 9.4, 9.35, 9.275
Beam: 9.625, 9.575, 9.5, 9.425
Floor: 9.475, 9.425, 9.375, 9.35
February 14th vs. UW–Stout
Vault: 9.65, 9.6, 9.575, 9.5
Bars: 9.775, 9.7, 9.65, 9.6, 9.575
Beam: 9.7, 9.65, 9.6, 9.45
Floor: 9.8, 9.75, 9.725, 9.6
One thing I noticed was how consistent the team has been across all three meets, especially on vault and beam. The February 14th meet stood out with especially strong bar and floor scores, including a 9.8 on floor to end the night.
Even if you’re not a gymnast, I highly recommend attending a college gymnastics meet if your school has a team. The energy, teamwork, and sportsmanship make it such a fun experience. Watching the UWW gymnastics team reminds me a lot of my former club team because of how supportive they are of each other on every event. Being in that environment again—even just as a spectator—has been really meaningful for me.
