NCAA National Championship Weekend

This weekend was another one filled with college gymnastics, as the National Championship took place in Fort Worth, Texas and the men's championship was taking place in Champaign, Illinois. The men's event is also a 3 day event with the top 3 teams making it to the finals on Saturday. The women's event is a three-day competition running Thursday through Saturday where only the top two teams from each semifinal session advance to the finals.

On Thursday April 16th, I had the opportunity to watch the first session on TV at 3:30 PM, which included Florida, Stanford, LSU, and Georgia. The first semifinal had Florida and LSU moving on to the National Championship.

The second session on Thursday on TV at 8 PM the teams included UCLA, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Minnesota. The teams that advanced from the second semifinal were Oklahoma and Minnesota.

On Friday April 17th, I was able to watch the men's championship on TV. The teams in this session included Oklahoma, Ohio State, Nebraska, California, Greenville, and Springfield. The first session started at 2pm and the three winners coming out of that session that moved  on to the championships on Saturday include the following: Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Nebraska.

In the second session on Friday on TV at 7pm the teams included Stanford, Michigan, Illinois, Penn State, Navy, and Army. The three teams that moved on to Saturday's final include Stanford, Michigan, and Illinois.

These four teams for the Women including LSU, Florida, OU, and Minnesota will go on to compete in the finals on Saturday on April 18th.

These six teams for the Men competing in the final on Saturday April 18th includes Oklahoma, Ohio State, Nebraska, Stanford, Michigan, and Illinois.

On Saturday April 18th, I got the opportunity to watch both the Women and Men NCAA Division I National Championship on TV and see the top teams compete for the title. For the Women the Oklahoma Sooners won and for the Men Standford won.

I’ve loved following gymnastics each season because it’s such a fun sport to watch. As a former athlete, I really enjoy both the skill, excitement of the competition, and how entertaining it is.

Congratulations to all the teams and individuals that competed this weekend!
