Gymnast Salute

Interview With Bianca Jackson

How old were you when you started gymnastics, and what originally drew you to the sport?

I was 3 years old and I always enjoyed flipping off my moms couch and swinging on the railings

What was your favorite meet, your favorite and least favorite events, and the hardest/easiest skill you ever trained?

My favorite competition was my last regional JO competition as a Level 10 gymnast where I finally scored the 10.0 I was working so hard towards

Gymnastics is incredibly mental. What was your hardest struggle during your time as a gymnast? How did you deal with nerves, pressure, and getting in your head or temporarily "losing" a skill?

The hardest struggle for me was when in 2024 I got into a car accident and ended up with a concussion right when i had like “hit my peak” so having to come back and all that struggle was what hurt me the most

What was your biggest accomplishment in the sport, and did you ever want to do college gymnastics?

My biggest accomplishment was getting a perfect 10.0 on Vault. I have always wanted to do gymnastics in college

How did you cope when your time as a gymnast ended, and did you transition into coaching or are you currently still competing?

Gymnastics isn’t ending for me seeing as I am a freshman this year for Rutgers University

Who was your gymnastics role model, and what advice would you give to someone starting the sport for the first time?

My role model was always and will always be simone biles. I would just tell them to never give up because the best is yet to come

What two goals you want to achieve in the sport of gymnastics?

I always wanted to achieve that perfect 10.0 and I’ve always wanted to get a standing ovation for a floor routine which i haven’t gotten yet
